Job Summary

The Transportation Division of AECOM is actively seeking an experienced roads/highways Transportation Technologist for immediate employment in our Winnipeg, Manitoba office. The qualified applicant must be able to demonstrate experience with geometric and pavement design, construction contract administration, inspection and quantity surveying for the construction of asphalt, PCC and/or gravel roads and related municipal transportation related infrastructure within the Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg.

The candidate will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and clients. He/she will have a high level of competence, initiative and positive attitude towards getting things done. The appropriately qualified candidate will be expected to coordinate and support the delivery of infrastructure to clients mostly within the municipal and provincial transportation sector.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Participate in the design and construction inspection of urban and rural roads / highways

  • Prepare and review tender documents and project cost estimates

  • Assist Project Managers with the opportunity to move into a Project Manager role in the future

  • Advise on technical issues that arise during the execution of projects

  • Being a technical resource for transportation work in the Winnipeg office

  • Provide technical leadership in client meetings on transportation issues

  • Work closely with design and CAD staff to ensure designs meet current design standards, guidelines and other requirements

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma in Civil or Municipal Engineering Technology (or equivalent)

  • Minimum 5+ years related experience in transportation design and construction inspection

  • Highway and city road geometric and pavement design and construction experience – asphalt, concrete and gravel pavements, field experience with GPS, total station and level

  • Experience in the use of Civil 3D and Microsoft Office suite

  • Registered or eligible for registration with Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba (CTTAM)

  • Must possess a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License

  • Willing to travel within the Province of Manitoba

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients

  • Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with construction layout and quantity surveying

  • Able to work long hours and on weekends

  • Transportation design and construction experience

  • CTTAM Certification
