Job Summary

AECOM is actively recruiting for a senior individual, with relevant and recent experience, to serve as the NAVSEA Columbia Class Submarine Program Office (PMS397) Principal for Safety (PFS). The position is located at Washington Navy Yard. Responsibilities of this position include: lead the PMS397 safety program; support System Safety Working Group (SWG); provide system safety input to program documentation; conduct safety reviews of system specifications and design; develop, review, process, and track system Hazard Analysis Reports (HAR); and develop system certification data packages and present to the System Software Safety Technical Review Panel (SSSTRP) and Weapon System Explosive Safety Review Board (WSESRB). This position requires the ability to be certified as a PFS in accordance with NAVSEA Instruction 5100.12B which requires 12 months System Safety Specific Experience, familiarity with MIL-STD-882 and the Joint Software Systems Safety Engineering Handbook (JSSSEH) and completion of WSESRB Interactive Safety Environment (WISE) Training Modules Catalogs A, B, and C.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in engineering or related field.

  • Eleven years of relevant work experience, including 12 months System Safety Specific Experience.

  • Two years of job-related experience may be substituted for each year of college.

  • An active Government Security Clearance at the SECRET level, or above.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Principal for Safety Confirmation (by NAVSEA 00VW, SEA04, or SEA05) IAW NAVSEAINST 5100.12B

  • Completion of WISE Training Modules (A, B, & C) [required prior to 31 Dec 2017]

  • DAWAI Systems Planning, Research, Development and Engineering (SPRDE) Certification

  • Professional Certifications in engineering, safety, or industrial hygiene
