Job Description
AECOM Canada is seeking an experienced Senior Dam Safety Engineer/Project Manager to lead and deliver dam safety related projects. The successful candidate will manage multi-disciplinary teams and ensure projects adhere to the Canadian Dam Association (CDA) guidelines , as well as industry best practices. This is an exciting opportunity for a leader with expertise in dam safety, regulatory compliance, and project management. This role can be based out of any of our Canadian office locations with flexible hybrid work options.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Lead the delivery of dam safety and infrastructure projects, including inspections, assessments, and rehabilitation design.
Manage multi-disciplinary teams comprising engineers, environmental scientists, and other professionals to deliver successful projects.
Ensure all projects comply with CDA guidelines, including conducting dam safety reviews, developing Emergency Preparedness Plans, and monitoring programs.
Oversee project budgets, timelines, and client communications to ensure successful project outcomes.
Provide technical expertise in the areas of geotechnical, hydrological, and structural engineering as related to dam safety.
Develop proposals and contribute to business development efforts in dam safety and hydropower sectors.
Coordinate with stakeholders, regulators, and clients to ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks.
Mentor junior staff and foster technical development within the team.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or a related field of engineering.
Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Canada.
8+ years of experience in dam safety engineering and project management.
Comprehensive knowledge of CDA guidelines, hydropower, and water resource management.
Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.
Strong project management skills, including experience managing budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in dam safety engineering and project management strongly preferred
Master’s degree in Engineering or related field.
Experience in hydropower, flood management, or other water resources projects.
Familiarity with relevant software tools such as HEC-RAS, GeoStudio, and other modeling tools.
Additional Information
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $123,000.00 - $215,000.00.
