Job Description

AECOM is seeking a dynamic, open minded “can-do” Project Manager who is defined by their passion and persistence in delivering and winning architectural and engineering design services. Those with a “seller-doer” mind set and an appetite for business development would be an ideal fit for this role!

You will reside within our Buildings and Places Project Delivery Group, collaborating with our Engineering Leads, Operations and Marketing Managers who will provide technical input, leadership and strategic support to help you succeed. As a Project Manager you will be a part of a talented, multi-disciplinary team of Architects, Urban Planners and Engineers working on projects across a variety of sectors, building typologies and clients. This role offers a chance to be at the forefront of exciting endeavours that strive for excellence in design and embrace sustainability with an opportunity to collaborate and exchange ideas with global experts.

You will be responsible for managing, coordinating and directing the Design teams throughout the entire project lifecycle.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall planning, coordination and control of projects from inception to completion, with the goal of producing functionally and financially viable projects that are completed on time within authorized cost and to the required degree of quality.

  • Manage and drive financial performance of assigned projects.

  • Manage scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and change management while building strong client relationships.

  • At a project level, provide clear guidance to designers and technical staff to meet client objectives.

  • Manage project teams to produce fully coordinated working drawings and project specifications.

  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing with our clients, our project teams, our sub consultants and construction contractors.

  • Preparation of design and contract documents, document checking and verification, conduct construction review and contract administration throughout the duration of a project.

  • Communicate with construction team to provide information and help resolve problems.

  • Establish and maintain solid working relationships and communication with technical staff, managers, and peers, regularly interacting with all levels of management, functional POCs and clients with a high degree of tact and diplomacy.

  • Gather, assess, and validate client requirements and constraints while working closely with client account managers (CAMs) to ensure a winning solution.

  • Interact routinely with all levels of divisional, operational and group management, infrastructure POCs, staff, and clients, and follow through on tasking.

  • Typically manages projects involving RTF (Risk Triggering Factors).

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess, at a very minimum:

  • No less than a Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering + 6 years of experience as a registered Architect or Engineer, managing multiple projects of various types and complexities.

Preferred Qualifications and Attributes:

  • At a minimum, twelve (12) years of experience managing multiple projects of various types and complexities. You are a self-starter that thrives under pressures, exhibits tenacity, zeal and takes pride in achieving what many consider impossible.

  • Architectural or Engineering designation.

  • PMP accreditation.

  • Experience in managing large complex projects is an asset.

  • Technical knowledge of building construction and the Ontario Building Code.

  • Experience fast-tracking building and environmental permitting and experience working with municipal approvals.

  • Familiar with construction administration protocols.

  • Business acumen.

  • High level of literacy regarding financial reporting and workplan composition.

  • Ability to work within a team environment, ability to co-ordinate with a multi-disciplinary in-house consultant team.

  • Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills.

  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.

  • Ability to multi-task combined with strong attention to detail and time management skills.

  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning.

  • Strong, hands-on technical knowledge, document review, consultant coordination and experience in field review and contract administration.

  • Dedicated, with an all-hands-on-deck attitude towards completing the work efficiently and accurately.

  • Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of scheduling (MS Project), word processing (Word) and spreadsheet (Excel) software applications.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $107,000.00 - $175,000.00.
