Job Description

AECOM’s Building’s & Places business line has an exciting opportunity for a Principal (or Senior) level Fire Protection Engineer to join our well-respected Building Services Practice in Sydney.

This role will require you to use your technical capabilities to work alongside multi-disciplinary engineers to assist in the delivery of projects across our National portfolios in Defence, Education, Transportation, High Tech Data and Health sectors.

What will a day in this role look like:

  • Collaborate with a team of multi-disciplinary engineers providing high-quality technical design services whilst leading projects autonomously.

  • Lead the delivery of major projects including the preparation of fire protection designs, specifications, reports, calculations, drawings and project schedules.

  • Conduct site visits, liaise with contractors and consultants whilst reporting back and holding meetings with clients and stakeholders to provide project updates.

  • Mentor our junior staff to develop our future engineers and collaborate further with our experienced fire protection engineers both locally and nationally.

Qualifications

What are we looking for from you?

  • Relevant Bachelor Degree (or Diploma of Fire Systems Design or equivalent) with CPEng highly advantageous.

  • FPAS – Registered / Accreditation

  • Ideally, 8 + years in the Fire Protection Engineering space working for a Building Services Consultancy with exposure to fire services design covering; fire sprinklers, foam and gas suppression, fire detection and alarm systems, fire hydrants and hose reels across a range of market sectors.

  • Proven project experience working to Australian standards and legislation, ideally with exposure to State / Federal Government Projects.

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills to liaise and advise clients, grow AECOM’s service offering, manage projects and mentor junior engineers within the team.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading and running fire protection engineering components of major projects, ideally with exposure to HYENA, with a track record of managing project resources to meet time, budget, project and client requirements.
