Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking a GIS Developer/Analyst to work onsite in San Jose for a transportation agency client. This position would be part of a dynamic team responsible for delivering customized geo-spatial solutions and advanced data analytics to the agency.

  • The successful candidate needs to demonstrate a high degree of initiative, be able to work independently and collaboratively as a team member, have a passion for innovative GIS technologies and data analytics.

  • The selected candidate will play a major role in designing, developing, and maintaining custom GIS applications and tools using Esri products or potentially open-source software.

  • They will collaborate with transportation planners, engineers, field workers, and analysts to understand data needs and translate them into actionable GIS solutions.

  • S/he will also be the technical lead in numerous initiatives that involve ETL of data to support advanced analytical work using Big Data.

  • They will be tasked to diagnose, evaluate, and resolve data pipeline issues.

  • This position will also develop and implement strategies to improve workflow efficiency by streamlining and automating data analyses and other processes.

On a day-to-day basis, this position will be using Esri Enterprise suites to develop, publish, and manage custom web tools for internal and external users.

  • This position will be using Python, Postgres, or R to maintain, update, and scrub databases.

  • This position will also perform advanced data analytics and develop visualization using coding languages.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 4 Years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

The following qualifications are highly desirable but not required:

Desirable Qualifications

  • One year of experience using ArcGIS Pro and other tools in Esri Enterprise,

  • Fluent in Python

  • Demonstrated proficiency in implementing data QAQC

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate in both verbal and written forms

  • BS Degree in GIS, Data Science, Statistics, Environmental Studies/Science, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Geography, Computer Science, or a related field is required.

  • Demonstrated experience in automating processes using Python, ModelBuilder, or other tools

  • Demonstrated experience in Esri ArcGIS Enterprise deployment on Microsoft Azure

  • Demonstrated experience in processing Big Data and developing visualizations using Python or other codes

  • Demonstrated experience developing web-based mapping platforms and applications using VertiGIS, Mapbox, CartoDB, Google Maps API, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience in geodatabase administration in Oracle, Microsoft SQL, or other RDBMS environments

  • Background in transportation planning and transit operations

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $75,000.00 - $120,000.00.
