Job Description
AECOM offers a comprehensive suite of subsurface utility engineering (SUE), private utility locating and services to its diverse customer base composed of Engineering, Environmental, Utility, Surveying, and other Construction, and Infrastructure.
We are seeking a SUE Site Survey Technician to join our team for projects in California. This is an exciting opportunity to start a career with an internationally-known infrastructure consulting firm.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of tasks and assist Senior Technicians in support of Subsurface Utility Investigation activities.
Setting up and operating equipment; inspecting equipment; maintaining project documentation.
Utilize a suite of advanced geophysical equipment (to include Ground Penetrating Radar), observational skills, and deductive reasoning to identify, designate and locate (vacuum excavation) all utilities within a requested job scope in accordance with American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 38-02 & 38-22.
Consistently and effectively communicate with field and office staff.
Establish a basic understanding of procedures and company policies to plan and accomplish basic goals.
Ability to adhere to AECOM strict standards for safety and quality.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
HS Diploma or equivalent
Valid Driver’s License required to regularly drive AECOM vehicles to project sites. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
Position requires frequent traveling to field locations. Locations and distances vary and could include occasional overnight travel
Frequent lifting of equipment up to 50 pounds unassisted
Frequent outdoor work in a variety of seasonal weather conditions
Daily walking several miles to perform job duties. Frequently across outdoor construction environments with a variety of uneven terrains such as mud, rock, grass, dirt and other unpaved terrains and variable outdoor conditions including heat, cold, dust, and noise
Preferred Qualifications:
Surveying or construction related experience
SUE and/or private locating experience
Experience and understanding of SUE practices and procedures in accordance with ASCE 38-02 & 38-22
Detailed-oriented and ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude
Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
Possess troubleshooting skills and be willing and able to learn new procedures and technologies

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $22.00/hour - $25.00/hour.
