Job Description

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Geologist for employment in the Austin or San Antonio, Texas offices. This position would support the Environmental business line, primarily working on Federal projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Support planning and execute wide range of environmental investigation and remediation projects under CERCLA, RCRA, and State jurisdictions for the DoD.

  • Develop and implement environmental solutions and best management practices.

  • Interface with clients to identify technical requirements.

  • Write work planning documents and technical reports.

  • Lead planning and execution of robust complex field events including sampling, data collection, and remediation at project sites.

  • Participate in teams of engineers and scientists in execution of project tasks.

  • Analyze data sets, draw conclusions, and develop risk management recommendations.

  • Manage personal workloads; apprising project managers of progress and obstacles, and presenting project outputs for final delivery.

  • Meet required schedules while producing quality work.

  • Work both in a team environment and without supervision.

  • Apply advanced scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop technical solutions to complex problems.

  • Perform complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems.

  • Oversee the work of less experienced scientists.

  • Manage projects within client's scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.

  • Provide oversight of subcontractors for site investigation and remediation projects with complex technical/regulatory issues, to ensure their work aligns with our client's goals and expectations.

  • Ensure that best practices and appropriate technology are used for all remediation activities.

  • Maintain up to date knowledge of local, state, and Federal regulations.

  • Travel to various job sites within the US

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Hydrogeology, +6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in geology, hydrogeology or other related discipline (e.g., geophysics, hydrogeology, geochemistry, environmental geology, engineering geology).

  • Professional registration or track to obtain professional registration.

  • Experience with developing conceptual site models, and preparing remediation and assessment strategies

  • Proficiency in standard office suite software applications.

  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification

  • Candidate must be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination.

  • Tolerance for work in outdoor environments in a range of weather conditions.

  • Ability to travel.

  • Desire to be on a project management track with the opportunity to complete AECOM’s project manager training and certification process. Qualified candidates (or candidates with the desire to take on project management roles) will work closely with senior-level project managers to learn AECOM’s project management procedures and expectations.

Additional Information

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $80,000.00 - $115,000.00.
