Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced Director Program Delivery with a specialization in Rail programs to join our team, supporting some of the most complex programs globally. This role is based in Sacramento, CA .

SUMMARY:

The selected candidate will be an exceptional leader with proven expertise in project management and delivery, leadership, and innovative construction practices. The ideal candidate will have a track record of successfully leading large-scale infrastructure programs and driving operational excellence within the industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide the organization with strong technical leadership and strategic direction for program delivery.

  • Identify areas of high risk and pro-actively take action to positively impact program outcomes.

  • Liaise with clients to ensure alignment with program goals and compliance with legal requirements.

  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams to develop integrated solutions for complex rail projects and programs.

  • Provide best practices from your experience and knowledge of the best national and international technical practices including procedures and codes and regulations in the US and internationally.

  • Drive all stages of the project life cycle including start-up, execution, and handover of major projects.

  • Significant technical delivery capability in design assurance, delivery, and construction of complex infrastructure projects, specifically within major rail programs.

  • Advocate for and champion ethical and safe working practices throughout the organization, ensuring the highest standards of integrity.

  • Capability to successfully deliver design assurance and technical services under different forms of contract including direct services to infrastructure clients and design services for contractors under design-build forms of contract.

  • Actively lead and support the attraction and retention of top-tier talent within program management.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS + 12 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 4 years of leadership.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering field (i.e. Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, etc.)

  • 25+ years of Project or Construction Management with 20 years in a leadership role

  • A proven executive-level leader in very large to mega organizations, with a track record of driving high performance, organizational success and achieving complex strategic objectives within a range of high-demand transit modes/project types e.g. High-Speed Rail / Commuter Rail / Major Metro and Light Rail.

  • Displays profound expertise and an exceptional capability in navigating program complexity by masterfully managing and coordinating diverse stakeholder interests, intricate regulatory frameworks, technical challenges, organizational structures, and the spectrum of risks and uncertainties associated with unforeseen events, regulatory changes, market conditions, and technological advancements.

  • A proven senior leader in large organizations, with a track record of driving strong performance, organizational success and achieving objectives.

  • Has an extensive, industry-wide network. Is renowned for successfully shaping, leading, or transforming multiple large-scale or very large programs, or for an extended period leading a mega program. Ability to take a “hands-on approach” to resolve complex detailed problems.

  • Strong understanding of technical and design solutions for railway infrastructure including major civil assets (including tunnels and bridges) permanent way, stations, depots, and requirements for rail systems.

  • Recognized as a leader in program management, consistently providing visionary leadership and strategic direction in the application of program management practices for key clients on industry-defining programs.

  • Possesses an exceptional level of technical expertise in one or more technical areas within program management. Frequently called on by clients and peers to provide guidance, position or deliver complex global programs.

  • Deep expertise and proficiency in leading multiple program phases including Day 1 strategic consulting services to formulate program plans, program initiation, design, and construction delivery and close out of programs.

  • Possesses a comprehensive understanding of the program management competencies crucial for success in managing complex programs, with the ability to critically evaluate and apply these competencies as needed.

  • Proven experience in managing teams practicing multiple program management competencies on numerous complex programs, earning recognition for embodying, and promoting the company's core values.

  • Guides and facilitates others in mastering all aspects of identified program competencies in highly complex programs.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $167,303.00 - $309,510.00.
