Job Summary

AECOM has a new job vacancy for a Principal Infrastructure Engineer to join our Civil Infrastructure team in Plymouth.

This is an opportunity for you to come into an established and talented team and lend technical leadership to fuel further success in a vibrant market focused in the South West that offers highway projects alongside regeneration and multi-disciplinary schemes.

As a Principal Engineer you will undertake the design and project management on various highway and Civil Infrastructure related projects and assist in developing the Company’s business.

Our projects vary in size so you will be expected to support on everything from £5 Million to £100+ Million projects and long-term frameworks from both the private and public sector in Devon, Cornwall and the South West.

Our Civil & Structural division consists of over 450 people nationwide. Our Engineers and Project Managers work on projects within highways, residential, commercial, aviation, defence, healthcare, education, pharmaceutical, sports, and leisure.

Job Responsibilities:

Your role will be to provide technical design leadership to a team of more junior engineers to ensure projects are delivered to programme quality and budget.

You will also need to develop internal team relationships and provide support to junior staff in order to develop their individual skills and to encourage their personal development. You will not necessarily have to line manage but you will be a key point of reference within the team.

This is a role well suited for a person who sees themselves as a technical expert able to find solutions to challenging civil engineering problems. Key to this role is the ability to provide a client focused service which results in on-going satisfaction and repeat business.

Minimum Requirements

  • MEng / BEng / BSc in Civil Engineering

  • Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng) preferred

  • Previous experience in UK highway design with knowledge of UK codes and drainage design for a Consulting Engineering firm or a Local/Highway Authority

  • Highway/pavement design skills including a working knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), Manual for Streets and Local Authority Design Guides for Highways in Residential and Commercial Estates

  • Drainage design skills including a working knowledge of Sewers for Adoption, Building Regulations Part H and the SUDS Manual

  • Demonstratable experience with Civils 3D, PDS or MOSS/MX

  • Sound knowledge of construction contracts and commercial awareness

  • Knowledge of CDM regulations and duties

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability in WINDES

  • Site supervision experience of civil engineering projects

  • Full, clean driving licence
