Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Engineer V within the Buildings and Places business line in Philadelphia, PA . This position will offer the opportunity to work on a variety of projects including, but not limited to, various buildings, repair facilities, train stations, high-voltage substations and electrified railroads.

  • Prepare design drawings and documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, calculations, and studies associated with power system.

  • Complete electrical power and lighting designs for projects of all sizes.

  • Makes major design recommendations and design decisions with input from senior staff.

  • Plans design work, calculates costs, and time schedules to assign design duties to junior staff working on projects.

  • Prepare one-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications.

  • Coordinates design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers

  • Exercise judgment on details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.

  • Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Perform engineering-related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids

  • Maintains accurate project documentation and design data for permanent project files.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

  • Acts as an adviser and reviews correspondence prepared by junior project team members.

  • Analyzes problems and writes reports.

  • Assists in project checking for quality control on other projects.

  • Perform site investigations and walk-downs.

  • Mentors/trains junior staff members.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Experience with electrical power and lighting designs for projects of all sizes, utilizing electrical design software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PE license or the ability to obtain within 1 year of hiring date

  • Ability to research and apply building code, regulatory and industry code requirements

  • Experience performing lighting design and foot-candle calculations, utilizing light design software

  • Ability to switch between work on multiple/different projects daily

  • Experienced in Electrical Power Calculation Software

  • Experienced in Lighting Calculation Software

  • Experienced in application of National Electrical Code

  • Working knowledge of NFPA, ISA, IEEE Regulatory Codes

  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, AGI 32 and SKM software

  • Ability to travel as needed to client office locations, including project offices, if applicable

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $140,000.00 - $180,000.00.
