Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Transportation Planner - Land Use to join our team providing in-house consulting services for Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise, a premier toll agency within the Florida Department of Transportation. Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise manages over 500 miles of limited access roadways across the state, playing a pivotal role in the future of transportation in Florida. This is an opportunity to be involved with future toll roadway transportation planning.

You will collaborate on a diverse range of high-profile projects, contributing innovative ideas to enhance our planning and processes. You will engage in cutting-edge planning and design initiatives, supporting the future of transportation in the state. The successful candidate will join the Turnpike’s Planning and Environmental Management group, offering technical support in transportation planning, project feasibility evaluations, and master planning.

Job Summary

  • Developing work scopes, schedules, and budgets for transportation planning projects;

  • Assisting with project study contributions of multi-disciplinary specialists in traffic engineering/planning, travel demand modeling, geographic information systems, and financial analysis, among others;

  • Assisting with the preparation of documentation for projects managed, including Technical Memoranda, Project Feasibility Reports, Documentation, and/or parts of Traffic and Revenue Studies;

  • Conducting planning analysis of existing and future year land use including GIS analysis on land use development patterns and forecasts;

  • Assisting with the preparation and presentation of briefings of transportation project study results for clients, stakeholders, and other interested parties;

  • Routinely summarizing transportation project study progress reports for clients;

  • Directing field data acquisition, site investigations and surveys;

  • Evaluating transportation systems, roadway level of service, and forecasts of future transportation needs;

  • Defining researching, reviewing and reporting on regional and local transportation planning issues and priorities;

  • Participating and providing support for public meetings or hearings to explain planning items and projects, to gather feedback from those affected by projects, or to achieve consensus on project designs;

  • Evaluating transportation-related consequences of federal and state legislative proposals and conducting policy analysis

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in engineering, planning, public policy, or related field

  • 4 years of experience in transportation planning or related projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in engineering, planning, public policy or related field.

  • Experience in transportation planning, transportation engineering, and corridor studies;

  • Familiarity with Florida planning and growth management processes

  • Proficient in technical writing abilities and presentation skills;

  • Client communication proficiency including written and oral communication skills

  • Experience in transportation planning analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experienced in project life cycle assignment completion and on-schedule project delivery including an understanding of the unique requirements of transportation planning.

  • Relocation is not an option for this position

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $75,000.00 - $110,000.00.
