AECOM Sr. Water Engineer in Oakland, California

Job Summary

AECOM is currently seeking an enthusiastic Hydraulic/Hydrologic Engineer for our Oakland, California office.

The Hydraulic/Hydrologic Engineer will serve a key role in ongoing projects and contracts and will support business development in the future. This position is suited for a growth and career-oriented person with an emphasis on modeling skills to complete a wide variety of challenging and complex hydraulic and hydrologic analysis across a broad range of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure planning and design projects.

This position is responsible for modeling water distribution and/or sewer collection systems in support of on-call requests, engineering reports, master planning projects, and support for preliminary and final designs. The successful candidate will be involved with, and responsible for, a wide variety of interesting assignments, including:

  • Performing hydraulic modeling and applying sound engineering judgment to unique applications

  • Creative problem solving, customized python scripting, GIS application and specialized tool development

  • Managing projects, tasks and leading small multidisciplinary technical teams

  • Working with clients to provide meaningful results and excellent client service

  • Writing technical memorandums, engineering reports, and planning studies

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus four (4) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Relevant experience in water distribution and/or sewer collection system hydraulic model development, calibration, and master planning experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline. Advanced degree preferred

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer preferred

  • Proficient with hydraulics, hydraulic modeling software such as InfoWater, InfoWorks WS/CS/ICM , WaterCAD, EPANET, InfoSewer, InfoSWWM

  • Experience utilizing GIS for analysis, model integration, and figure generation

  • Strong background in closed conduit, open channel hydraulics, and pump station operations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Possess effective problem-solving and critical/analytical thinking ability, high attention to detail, and time-management skills.
