AECOM Consulting Transportation Professionals - All Levels in Norwich, United Kingdom

Job Summary

Our Consulting business is looking for transportation professionals at all levels across the Midlands, South Wales, South West and South East of England.

AECOM has a wide range of multi-disciplinary teams, a global reach and diversified market penetration. Our clients include government bodies, transport agencies and operators, developers, local authorities, and international clients. We develop and use some of the most sophisticated techniques, encourage innovation and offer a comprehensive internal training programme to promote professional and technical development. You will be supported in this role by like-minded individuals and a team with international recognition in many areas of transport/development planning and economics. Collectively, you will form a team that delivers quality products that satisfies the needs of our clients.

The core type of work that we do within the planning team:

Business cases – South Wales Relief Lines Network Rail, A4 Bath Corridor WECA.

Strategy development – Peninsula STB.

Regional transport models – West of England, South West and Mid Wales, Midlands RTM (HE).

Local Authority transport models – Cornwall.

Innovative data analysis

Key Local Authority frameworks – CORMAC, WECA.

Spatial planning – Midlands, East of England, South West.

Future mobility – WECA FTZ, Cornwall e-bikes, Transport for West Midlands Key Route Network.

Decarbonisation/air quality – Peninsula STB Decarbonisation strategy – Cornwall Ultra-Low Emission Bus Strategy.

Rail planning – Business case support for Network Rail / Scheme promoters, Demand forecasting, Operational Modelling.

Major urban extensions (Bristol, Langarth - Cornwall, Pennllergaer- Swansea).

Helping a range of Universities - in the region with their modernisation and growth plans (Bristol, Exeter, Bournemouth).

Supporting behavioural change projects - for local highway authorities targeting different demographics including residents, businesses and employees, job seekers, and schools.

Residential developments - Supporting the delivery of major residential developments (Garden Communities and Urban Extensions) for a range of master developers (Urban&Civic, Midtown Capital) and public sector bodies (Homes England, Bristol City Council, Bellway) through the planning process from Regulation 18 submission, Outline Planning Application and delivery.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience in one or more of these areas: public policy, economics, transport planning, development transport planning, transport modelling, economic modelling, data analytics, statistics. Some roles will require demonstrative experience in the relevant specialist areas.

  • Interest in transport and other civil infrastructure

  • Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills

  • High level of numeracy

  • Excellent skills in verbal, written and visual communication

  • Motivated to succeed as an individual and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree in a relevant subject such as engineering, geography, mathematics, economics or similar.

  • Membership of, or working towards membership of, a relevant professional institution (CIHT, CILT, IHE, TPS, ICE). In some positions, chartership will be required.

  • A master’s degree in a relevant subject is desirable but is not essential
