Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a dedicated, attentive Bridge Inspection Team Leader for immediate employment in New York Metro (AECOM’s East Region) to join AECOM’s Transportation Structural Engineering/Bridge Team. Here, you will have freedom to grow in a world of opportunity.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs field inspections according to requirements of NYSDOT Bridge Inspection Manual, which also requires driving to sites that are not accessible by public transportation

  • Prepares inspection and flag reports

  • Performs field coordination

  • Coordinates with vendors and clients

  • Supervises Team Leader Assistant and access equipment vendors

  • Will work with computers in Windows environment and be fully conversant with the NYSDOT inspection and load rating software

  • Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others

  • Participates in development of technical proposals

  • Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering plus 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • New York State Professional Engineering (P.E.) License

  • Experience in Bridge inspection as a Team Leader

  • Completion of the 2-week NHI Course No. 130055 “Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges”, -OR - the 5-day NHI Course No. 130056 “Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges for Professional Engineers”

  • The candidate shall also have taken the NHI Course No. 130053 Bridge Inspection Refresher as required by New York.

  • Valid United States Driver's License

  • Must be able to work at heights, on ladders, on scaffolding and on aerial lifts, or other bridge inspection access equipment, must be able to climb, work in confined spaces, and be able to work under adverse weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Long span bridge inspection experience as a Team Leader

  • Experience performing field coordination and coordination with vendors and clients

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $120,000.00 - $160,000.00.
