Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Architectural Project Manager based in Manhattan, New York (New York) to lead and execute interdisciplinary projects with a focus on Sports, Public Assembly, and Higher Education, including: professional and collegiate arenas, coliseums, recreation centers.
Our Sports studio is an established leader in the market with over three decades of success. This large practice focuses it’s work on everything from performance and development facilities to primary competition venues, ranging anywhere from small collegiate clients to the largest of professional leagues and franchises. The role will be responsible for managing scope, schedule, and budget of projects across the project lifecycle - from conceptual studies to full design and construction administration. Responsible for planning and managing project staffing requirements, reporting project performance, and identifying and addressing scope creep, schedule, or quality issues to ensure a successful delivery of assigned projects.
Job Summary/Responsibilities
Working with interdisciplinary technical leads in coordinated successful execution of projects in design and construction
Engaging with both Team leaders, Client Contacts, and Partner firms
Reviewing and negotiating contracts and preparing fee proposals
Manage day-to-day activities of assigned projects.
Managing and supporting all technical, financial, and client satisfaction areas using established processes and tools
Support business development efforts as required to engage new client opportunities
Foster and maintain a collaborative professional working relationship with the Project Leadership Team (i.e. Project Designer, Project Architect, and Principal in Charge).
Contribute to design development, drawings, in support of overall project goals when requested and directed by the Principal-in-Charge.
Coordinates a team effort to deliver various sized projects through diverse design and construction phases.
Managing subconsultant scope, fees, deliverables, and performance
Coordinating internal resources and third parties/subcontractors for the execution of projects
Ensuring that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
Assisting in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders, and ensuring technical feasibility
Developing and monitoring a detailed project plan to track progress and identify shortfalls in a timely manner
Managing changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs to minimize risk
Measuring project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
Reporting and escalating to management as needed
Managing the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
Ability to manage multiple small to medium size projects of a complex scope.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field plus +8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with sports, public assembly &/or higher education projects
10+ years of progressively responsible experience in Architecture leading multidisciplinary teams on business development (e.g., project proposals) and project deliverables (e.g., technical reports, studies, construction documents) is strongly preferred
10+ years with specific Project Management related experience
Experience in implementing design quality assurance and quality control activities
Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated team-building ability and internal/ external networking skills
Ability to interact regularly and professionally with senior management and technical staff in other offices on business development and project execution issues
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
Proven organizational skills with a proven track record in client satisfaction
Project Management experience with sport facilities, convention centers, hospitality, and aviation a strong plus.
Experience with Bluebeam, Navisworks and Dynamo
Proficiency with Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Understanding and proficiency in advanced project delivery methods, drawing software and production a strong plus
Proficiency in 3D design software, REVIT, Rhino or similar preferred.
Licensed Architect, Interior Designer, Engineer or LEED accreditation preferred.
PMP certification or similar coursework preferred.
Additional Information
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $120,000.00 - $145,000.00.
