AECOM Data Engineer in New York City, New York

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an inventive and motivated Data Engineer to join our rapidly growing Software and Analytics team in our New York City office.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop data models integrating data sources

  • Build and maintaining ETL pipelines

  • Perform QAQC and data validation

  • Run Ad-hoc queries

  • Work in a fast-paced environment

  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use

  • Work with data scientists and other stakeholders to ensure that all data is well structured and retrievable for analysis and ML.

  • Perform research to come up with the most suitable technologies for different business use cases.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or related field with 2+ years of related work experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Must have an understanding of data ETL pipelines and strong attention to detail as you will be responsible for automating existing processes, integrating data sources, performing data validation, QAQC of data, building dashboards, and maintaining and optimizing processes in collaboration with the Cloud team as well as Data Scientists.

  • Proficient in SQL, relational and non- relational databases

  • Proficient in Python – performing data cleaning, transformations, data validation checks

  • Experience building and optimizing dashboards with Power BI - (Writing DAX queries, measures, hierarchies)

  • Proficient in Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or related field

  • You must be driven with the ability to adapt and seek out new ideas and technologies.

  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Familiarity with AWS services – lambda, s3, glue, Hadoop/Spark

  • Experience productionizing code

  • Ability to create API’s to be used by team members for further analysis of data

  • You must be driven with the ability to adapt and seek out new ideas and technologies.

  • Experience building and optimizing data ETL pipelines

  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Familiarity with AWS services – lambda, s3, glue, Hadoop/Spark

  • Experience productionizing code

  • Ability to create API’s to be used by team members for further analysis of data

  • Ability to collaborate with the cloud team on privacy and security

  • Experience with C#

  • Experience with Shell scripting
