Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and motivated Civil Engineer IV to serve as a Resident Engineer for Landfill and Closure construction for immediate employment in our Morrisville, NC office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Represents AECOM as Construction Resident Engineer during construction of CCR Landfills and closures throughout the Southeastern United States

  • Leads field inspection, data collection, record documentation, construction meetings, reporting and communications with multi-disciplinary AECOM and client project team

  • Manages field engineering and testing staff and subconsultants

  • Comprehends construction drawings, specifications, work plans, shop submittals, RFI’s and routine construction related communication

  • Reviews contractor payment requests, RFI’s, change order requests

  • Organizes and prepares reports, maps, drawings, tests, and other data as required

  • Manages schedules and budget related to field engineering phase of project

  • Reviews designs for constructability,

  • Conducts site reconnaissance to examine field conditions, construction progress, compliance with contract documents, etc.

  • Works closely with the project team, including civil, geotechnical, transportation engineers, surveyors, and senior designers to provide value to each project

  • Efficiently employs standard techniques, procedures, and criteria while developing advanced methods to improve efficiency

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related engineering field

  • 10+ years of civil construction/landfill CQA or Construction Management experience

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina; or able to transfer licensure by comity

  • Demonstrated proficiency in CQA testing, including earthen materials, concrete and geosynthetics

  • Hands on experience in Landfill and closure construction and record documentation

  • Ability to complete extended field assignments in the Southeastern United States

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Strong organizational, technical, and communications skills

  • Commitment to working efficiently to complete tasks within allotted schedule constraints

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Civil3D

  • Proficiency with scheduling software such as P-6

  • NCEES Record or multi-state registrations with commensurate experience
