Job Description

As a part of our continued growth, our AECOM Markham ON office has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Engineering Project Manager to assist in the delivery of major water and wastewater treatment plant upgrades. We are seeking a candidate who is a registered Professional Engineer with at least 25 years’ experience related specifically to large scale water and wastewater multi disciplinary projects and programs.

You will have a successful track record in managing large infrastructure projects (>$200M in construction value) including the design and construction phases of municipal infrastructure, preferably in the Greater Toronto Area. You will work in a team environment with intermediate and senior engineers to deliver advanced water and wastewater treatment projects to our client base in the GTA.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee and manage all phases of water and wastewater infrastructure projects to ensure works are completed in accordance with the contract documents, on time and budget; Construction management and supervision of is an important part of the position.

  • Financial and Risk Management/Mitigation both internal and external

  • Design of water/ wastewater infrastructure including the mechanical and biological systems.

  • Manage job safety at all times.

  • Responsible for regular project progress reports to the clients and AECOM Managers.

  • Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual project delivery, technical and client challenges, determining technical objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for technical activities and applications.

  • Stays abreast of industry standards and approaches and implements best practices.

  • Engage, hands-on, in the technical execution of client assignments through to successful project completion.

  • Preparation of technical memoranda, planning studies and design reports

  • Ensure project work is undertaken is accordance with corporate health and safety policies and quality management systems

  • Mentoring junior staff

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering +12 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • 4+ years of project management of projects with a construction value greater than $200M.

  • Registration or ability to obtain professional registration with a provisional Engineering Association

  • Class 5 Driver’s license in good standing

Preferred Qualifications :

  • 25+ years of experience is ideal

  • Solid technical skills in one of the practice areas of water/wastewater treatment, or municipal/industrial infrastructure, developed within a professional services environment, ideally with consulting engineering experience

  • Exceptional client care and service delivery skills.

  • Experience in working with geographically dispersed project teams that have successfully delivered major design projects within budget and on schedule

  • Experience leading and developing multi discipline project teams that may reside in multiple offices and in multiple countries

  • Proven project management skills including PM certifications.

  • Experience in alternative delivery models including DB, PDB, DBFOM.

  • Keen business acumen coupled with strong business development experience

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $190,000.00 - $250,000.00.
