AECOM SME Relationship Manager in Manchester, United Kingdom

United Kingdom - West Midlands, Birmingham

Job Summary

As the world's most trusted infrastructure consulting firm, we’re committed to managing our business with the utmost responsibility and to always strive for better – reducing emissions, creating social value or diversifying our workforce and supply chain.

We understand both the urgency of the challenges facing our society and our responsibility to respond in an impactful and enduring way. Armed with this consciousness, we’re leading the change toward a more sustainable and equitable future, partnering with those who want to make a positive difference in the world.

We’re listening to clients and the communities we serve to improve lives and livelihoods and to create sustainable legacies for generations to come. AECOM recognises the important role small businesses play in our economy and believes in contributing to the communities in which we work.

AECOM’s UK&I business is currently looking for a Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Relationship Manager who has an interest in engaging with diverse and innovative organisations to help deliver projects which add real value to our clients and communities.

The role of the SME Relationship Manager within AECOM is to act as the focal point for implementing our emerging SME strategy; acting as an advocate for SMEs within the business and helping to raise AECOMs profile for this activity externally.

The SME Relationship Manager will work with a diverse team within AECOM, including Client Account Managers, Market Sector Leaders and Project Leads as well as Procurement, Commercial and Marketing functions. Our teams in the UK&I are trusted advisors — planners, designers, engineers, consultants and program managers — delivering professional services spanning cities, transportation, buildings, water, new energy, and the environment. Working throughout the project lifecycle, we’re one team driven by a common purpose to deliver a better world.

Job Responsibilities:

SME Engagement

  • Understand the role and context of SMEs in the UK economy

  • Help to identify SMEs in the marketplace, aligned with AECOMs growth sectors or resource/service needs

  • Support SME onboarding at AECOM

  • Work with Marketing to promote AECOMs approach to SMEs and attend external events

  • Help to create value propositions for clients

Implementing AECOMs SME Strategy

  • Coordinate across regions and services, and work with operational and business line leaders to engage with SMEs

  • Support Framework Managers and CAMs with meeting client-specified targets around the use of SMEs

  • Maintain information on AECOMs SME intranet pages and portal

  • Manage all data associated with SMEs, including reporting on KPIs

  • Act as a champion for the use of SMEs within AECOM

  • Help to develop and evolve the AECOM SME strategy

Minimum Requirements

This is an opportunity to work closely with SME’s and our clients, operating in a diverse role across the AECOM UK&I business. The skills and attributes we are seeking include some or all the following:

  • A Self-starter with the ability to work as a positive, energized and adaptable team member

  • The ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, partner organisations and other stakeholders

  • Proven commitment to collaborative, ethical behaviour in a client-facing environment

  • Demonstrated experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team or engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders

  • Knowledge and understanding of the procurement processes

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to present ideas and concepts effectively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant degree or professional qualification

  • Work experience within a similar consultancy, Public Sector organisation or other relevant business
