AECOM Lead/Technical Director - Urban Drainage, Networks & Water Quality in Manchester, United Kingdom

Job Summary

As AECOMs Lead for Urban Drainage, Networks & Water Quality, you will be an integral part of the growth and development of AECOM’s well-established UK & Ireland Water Business. AECOM provides a range of professional services to numerous UK and Ireland Water companies through long term frameworks and major projects. To further grow, we require dedicated focus on the development and delivery of our urban drainage, networks and water quality services.

The Lead for Urban Drainage, Networks & Water Quality, will be responsible for the growth, development and delivery of these services to UK and Ireland water companies. Through a strong industry profile and existing client network, they will:

  • Build and maintain client relationships & workload

  • Develop/grow our team through technical excellence, staff training, innovation and sustainable recruitment

  • Ensure high quality delivery that contributes to AECOMs position as a trusted advisor to clients.

  • Provide a key linkage between our asset management and engineering delivery teams, by providing solutions and services that add value in the asset management and project definition stages of projects and lead on to engineering design delivery.

The Role

  • Build lasting and durable strategic partnerships with clients, adding value to their agenda

  • Support the delivery of strategic business objectives in line with AECOMs Sustainable Legacies agenda

  • Contribute to technical strategy and/or technical assurance within discipline

  • Develop AECOM technical expertise with a focus on creating the depth of capability to deliver value to our clients

  • Drive thought leadership, technical best practice, knowledge sharing, and process standardisation and optimisation across the discipline group

  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to team members and throughout the business, serving as in-house expert on specific complex technical solutions or processes.

  • Expertise in sustainable solutions that create sustainable legacies for our clients, society and environment

  • Bid and win work, identify and gain traction in elements of client programmes with significant potential for growth or long-term profitable pipeline

  • Work with AECOM delivery teams to grow net service revenue to agreed levels and margin year on year offer.

  • Utilise innovation to solve client problems and improve project margin.

  • Link with global counterparts to share experience and good practice.

  • Provide leadership to foster a positive H&S culture

Minimum Requirements

  • Postgraduate qualification in an engineering/water related discipline

  • Chartered Engineer and/or Water & Environmental Manager (C.WEM)

  • Subject Matter Expert with demonstratable experience of developing strategic relationships with clients, adding value through enhancing business services

  • Demonstrable experience of leading projects/frameworks within the sector

  • Significant experience of delivering strategic drainage planning, networks, water quality and asset management activities

  • Knowledge of the regulated Water industry in the UK, and the role of systems-based approaches to resilience and operational planning

  • Experience of people and project management

  • Ability to manage/direct projects to achieve business objectives of quality, time and cost

  • Ability to communicate/liaise effectively and professionally with all levels of staff, clients and contractors

Preferred Qualifications

  • Confident and influential in engaging with regulatory bodies and professional institutions.

  • Strong track record in the technical leadership and delivery of water / wastewater projects

  • Understanding of Asset Management lifecycle

  • Links to relevant academic institutions or individuals
