Our Transportation Group currently has a vacancy for a Principal/Associate Director Traffic Engineers within our Streets Team to provide expertise in the design of bus priority systems supporting our teams across the UK. Our Streets team is one of the largest teams dedicated to the delivery of sustainable transport projects for clients throughout the UK and Ireland. The successful candidate will have an excellent knowledge of traffic engineering design and project management of bus priority projects in complex urban environments. The role is to provide technical support/ leadership for our local Streets Teams located around the UK with regard to the design of bus priority projects.
Our Streets Team has a 30 year track record of successfully delivering bus priority project throughout the UK and further afield. The team has delivered bus priority projects from feasibility all the ways through to operation, covering all aspects of engineering design. As an area that we see significant growth in the years ahead we would like to add to our team and recruit experienced individuals who are keen to develop projects that make a real impact on communities and help our clients meet their climate change objectives. Projects: Our current and recent projects comprises a diverse mix of local, national and international project. A selection of our recent projects include:
NTA BusConnects Dublin and Cork;
Merseytravel Green Routes;
TfWM’s SPRINT Routes;
Dubai BRT Feasibility Study; and
Jeddah Public Transport Project.
Undertake traffic engineering studies from feasibility to detailed design.
Assist in the preparation of fee proposals and contribute to major bids.
Ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief.
Manage sub-consultants to produce deliverables against agreed timescales and in line with budget.
Sharing knowledge and supporting team to create a collaborative work environment.
Day to day client point of contact for projects.
Assist with the preparation preliminary or detailed design and project delivery of traffic engineering, local transport, urban design/streetscape and local authority/municipal highway schemes.
Assist with the preparation of detailed technical reports providing specialist technical contributions as required.
Attend Project Progress meetings as and when required.
Appropriate previous experience of sustainable transport projects in the urban environment;
Knowledge of emerging best practices in sustainable transport, traffic, public realm and urban design;
Experience in running projects from concept stage through to completion including Client and Design Team liaison;
Experience in bid writing and work winning;
Experience of undertaking a Project Manager role;
Experience of applying the principles of DMRB, the TSMl and MX Design for urban streets situations. In addition good knowledge of Manual for Streets would be required.
BEng or MEng degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant subject, although proven ability to design and deliver bus priority projects is more important than qualifications for this role.
Demonstrate experience and knowledge of developing feasibility, preliminary and detail design of sustainable transport schemes in the urban environment.
