Job Summary

Are you a talented and ambitious Associate or Senior Cost Manager looking to work on exciting infrastructure projects that can change the world?

We are looking for experienced Associate Cost Managers to support our exciting growth plans, working with key clients, particularly in the highways sector, supporting the successful delivery of capital projects and programmes of work. You will be joining an established team of like-minded experts that have a passion for innovation and delivering cutting edge solutions.

As an Associate Cost Manager within our Infrastructure team, you will provide a comprehensive, accurate and value driven service for large, high profile and exciting clients within the highways sector, such as Highways England. The role may also present opportunities to work across water, environment, rail, and power sectors.

The role will cover all aspects of cost management throughout the whole project lifecycle from initial inception / business case through to completion / commissioning. The role also provides the opportunity to support the growth of the business and development of team members.

Duties include (but not limited to):

  • Lead all aspects of cost management from inception of a project through to completion, working with peers and Directors, client and others as required; Including (but not limited to) feasibility estimates, cost planning, contract procurement, tender documentation, value engineering and commercial awareness, fee generation, risk management, dispute resolution, post contract and cost management (competent in cost reporting) and agreement of final accounts.

  • Achieve the highest standards of professional competence and to demonstrate this ability in all dealings with clients and professional contacts, reinforcing the company profile.

  • Drive performance standards and technical excellence through expert communication and effective use of the performance management process and AECOM technical practice networks.

  • Maintain and develop good relationships with clients, take every opportunity to uphold and increase the profile of the firm as a provider of professional, premium quality services.

  • Actively support the internal team and manage more junior staff on technically complex projects.

  • Develop marketing opportunities and where appropriate bring to the attention of Directors and the Business Development Department, in order that they may assist in following up potential leads enabling the development of new business.

Minimum Requirements

Skills/experience required:

  • Significant experience and strong track record in Cost Management/Quantity Surveying, ideally working on large scale infrastructure projects.

  • Working knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts, particularly the Professional Services Contract and Engineering and Construction Contract

  • Experience of undertaking cost/commercial management as part of integrated, multi-organisation, collaborative teams.

  • Experience of using contract and cost management systems such as CEMAR and Prism would be of benefit.

  • Experience of working within a client organization, either directly or through a colocation arrangement would be of benefit.

  • Ability to identify and influence key client stakeholders, building effective relationships to grow workload/portfolio

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent);

  • MRICS or working towards membership (or equivalent)
