AECOM Architectural Technician Apprentice II in Manchester, United Kingdom

Job Summary

  • Apprentices working towards Level 5 or 6, completing an Apprenticeship that is designed to introduce and build essential, hands on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.

  • Level 5 & 6 Apprentices are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study.

  • Apprentice 2 - Completion of Level 5 or the first 2 years of Level 6 (Degree Apprenticeship) with strong performance.

Minimum Requirements

This position is ideally suited to school leavers at A-Level (or equivalent) or those already undertaking a BETEC Course in construction technology, who can demonstrate the following:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade ‘C/4’ or above, including Mathematics & English

  • Three A-Levels (or equivalent such as a BTEC Level 3 Design/ construction technology) at grade 'C' or above - essential for level 6 Degree Apprenticeship or working towards this.

  • Good spatial and technical ability with good analytical and organizational skills.

  • Good hand drawing and computer graphic skills.

  • Good Microsoft Office skills essential such as Word, Excel & PowerPoint and knowledge/ experience with Adobe or 3D software would be an advantage.

  • Demonstrate an interest and a desire to pursue a career in Architecture/ Architectural Technology/ BIM Co-Ordination.

  • Commitment to continued education and improvement through on-the-job learning and training opportunities.

  • Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external clients, both verbally & in writing with the confidence to engage with a variety of people (clients, colleagues, stakeholders and sub-contractors alike) and the aptitude to rationally explain, explore and discuss technical issues and capture feedback

  • Enthusiastic, hard-working, with ambition and drive

  • Ability to structure & prioritise work effectively through close cooperation with the team as a whole

  • Ability to work in a team and independently without losing initiative & focus.

Preferred Qualifications

Some work experience or shadowing in a design/ construction environment would be an advantage.
