Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Site Safety Officer to be based in Los Angeles, CA.

Job Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Serves in an HSE liaison capacity to interface with client, JV Team, construction contractors, and contractor’s Site Safety Officers (SSOs) regarding safety performance and overall project safety.

  • Develops and/or implements policies and procedures to promote awareness of and compliance with health and safety requirements of the project.

  • Provides technical leadership and functional guidance to support regulatory standards being followed.

  • Serves in a liaison capacity with client, JV Team, construction contractors, and contractor’s Site Safety Officers (SSOs) and other various agencies engaged in promoting environmental safety and health activities.

  • Drafts all necessary reports to federal, state, and local agencies.

  • Coordinates audits of health and safety programs within the organization.

  • Develop and/or conduct basic health, safety, and environment (HSE) training to employees.

  • Communicates programs to enhance employee awareness of prevention and compliance.

  • Administer the HSE program on a large, specialized, complex project.

  • Maintain, and update as necessary, Site Safety Plans and Site Safety Training.

  • Develop and implement HSE metrics tracking and reporting mechanism for the project.

  • Ensures that HSE incidents are properly reported and investigated as appropriate.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree + 4 years of relevant HS&E experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety or Industrial Hygiene or closely related field.

  • Completion of the OSHA courses.

  • Preferred Licenses and Certificates:

  • Any Professional Safety Certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals

  • Licensed Safety Professional (LSP) from the National Association of Safety Professionals

  • Certified Safety Manager (CSM) from the National Association of Safety Professionals

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH)

Additional Information

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

  • Relocation assistance is not provided for this role.

  • Position will mostly be located at the client site and/or construction site.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $80,000.00 - $125,000.00.
