AECOM are currently looking to recruit Principal Engineers / Transport Planners to join our Development Planning teams in Aldgate and Basingstoke. We are looking to enhance and grow our teams with individuals with a strong technical background that share our enthusiasm and determination to support our expanding workload.
Our Development teams work with private and public sector clients, architects, planners and other property professionals across all sectors throughout the development life cycle; providing services from site feasibility through to completion. We undertake Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Preliminary and Detailed Designs as well as providing key transport inputs to Spatial and Master Planning.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven background in development related transport analysis and assessment, with wider experience in project management and supervisory skills. We would expect excellent written and oral communication skills which we would continue to develop, as well as experience in client fronting and negotiation with local authorities. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about working on a range of projects which support development at various stages of its life.
An excellent understanding, and proven experience in the field, of Development Planning;
A proven record of dealing with clients, local authorities and other regulatory bodies;
Experience of understanding client briefs, developing fee proposals and the effective delivery of project work;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to communicate and present confidently including in public forums;
Good presentation and technical writing skills are required, and you should be able to demonstrate a sound working competence in the use of MS Office products (including Excel and Word);
Experience in the preparation of development related Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Access Studies, with some wider experience in technical design and master planning;
Extensive experience of industry standard junction capacity assessment applications such as Junctions 9 and LINSIG, preferably including experience of larger network modelling;
Ability to work effectively in an unsupervised environment as well as to provide the lead and direction within a project team;
Have a sound commercial awareness and demonstrate the importance of effective financial management;
Have experience of business development and managing client expectations; and,
An ability to demonstrate proven management techniques including project and resource management as well as the mentoring of junior staff.
A degree in an analytical subject such as engineering, geography, mathematics, economics or similar.
Membership of a relevant professional institution (CIHT, CILT, IHE, TPS, ICE).
A masters degree in a relevant subject is desirable but is not essential
