We have an opportunity for a Senior Traffic Modeller with experience in micro-simulation modelling to join our thriving Leeds office offering multi-disciplinary design and planning capability.We collaborate with colleagues across the Northern region and with a wider community of micro-simulation specialists to deliver exciting projects for clients including Highways England and a range of local authorities.
This is an opportunity to join an established team delivering micro-simulation modelling as well as concept and preliminary design, detailed design and project delivery services on a wide range of projects.

Take a lead role in the micro-simulation modelling elements of traffic engineering projects, working directly with clients and assisting with client meetings and presentations
Ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief, checking the work of junior staff as appropriate and providing specialist technical contributions as required
Following successful accreditation on the AECOM project management system, act as a Project Manager including monitoring financial performance. Comprehensive training on AECOM’s project management system will be provided.
Keep up to date with current best practice, techniques and innovation.
Establish strong working relationships with key clients, being the key point of contact for meetings and client liaison
Develop strong working relationships with other internal teams within AECOM’s micro-simulation modelling community
Prepare detailed proposals, client briefs and fee proposals for approval by senior colleagues and contribute to major bids as required.
Staff development / mentoring
Mentor and manage career progression of line reports and local modelling community
Promote a health and safety focused culture by undertaking mandatory duties, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the project team members, and fulfilling all responsibilities for health and safety in design.
Excellent technical and communication skills
Demonstrated experience in forming strong client relationships
A successful track record in the management and delivery of a portfolio of traffic modelling related projects including an ability to effectively manage project commercial risks
Demonstrate experience and good understanding in VISSIM, ideally with Vis-Vap/COM, LinSIG and/or Transyt
Awareness of strategic modelling software and transport model hierarchy
Ability to interrogate modelling outputs and assess scheme impacts
Knowledge of model audit processes
Good numerical and analytical skills
Good report writing skills
Knowledge of traffic data collection requirements and techniques
Evidence of project/task management and client-facing work
Experience of model calibration and validation techniques and criteria.
- A relevant degree and to be working towards an appropriate Chartered status with membership of a professional institution.
