AECOM Senior Bridge Engineer in Leeds, United Kingdom

Job Summary

Our Leeds Bridge Team is looking to continue its recent expansion and we are particularly interested in talking with professional Bridge Engineers at Senior Principal level.

Our current projects include:

  • CAFA Network Rail Inspection and Assessment contract

  • A63 Castle Street Hull site supervision

  • Maintenance schemes on UK and US suspension bridges

  • A1(M) Darrington to Dishforth Operation & Maintenance

Your B ridge Experience will ideally be a blend of inspection, assessment, and refurbishment schemes.

We’re looking for Engineers with the right approach to join our friendly, diverse and welcoming team. Our team is relatively small in numbers, less than 20. But we feel that we punch above our weight and hold excellent reputations with clients in the UK and overseas. The team is young, with more than half the team having been recruited as graduates in the last three years.

The opportunity is there for Senior and Principal Engineers to help mentor these young engineers and continue to grow and develop the team, whilst also supporting the senior members of the team with project management, marketing and tendering for new work.

Minimum Requirements

Depending on your level of experience, we would be looking for a combination of the skills listed:

  • Able to take responsibility for leading small projects and sub-tasks from a technical perspective.

  • Experience in the inspection of bridges.

  • Experience in assessment or design of bridges.

  • Knowledge of Eurocodes, British Standards, and design/assessment (Network Rail and Highway) codes

  • Working knowledge of structural analysis software - structural Bridge Design, Midas and LUSAS would be an advantage

  • Experience in the assessment and/or design of concrete and steel structures

  • Knowledge of CDM and Safety in Design principles and accustomed to working to a high standard in terms of H&S compliance.

  • Experience and knowledge of construction techniques would be an advantage.

  • Ability to mentor junior staff through the early stages of their career

Preferred Qualifications

  • You will have proven assessment and/or design experience in civil structures preferably in transportation.

  • Chartered or Incorporated with the ICE or IStructE or approaching professional review
