AECOM is currently recruiting for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our well established and experienced Ground Engineering team in Leeds.
We are looking for an ambitious team player who has a passion for problem solving and who wishes to develop innovative, cost effective and buildable solutions in an environment that is collaborative, stimulating and demanding. We require an applicant who is recently Chartered or close to achieving Chartered status, with several years’ experience in geotechnical fieldwork, desk studies, design and factual and interpretative reporting, and ideally with strong capability in geotechnical detailed design of earthworks, deep and shallow foundations and retaining structures.
Our Leeds team supports internal and external clients on a wide variety of projects, but predominantly in road and rail infrastructure, flood alleviation, commercial and industrial developments, landslip investigation and remediation, and Local Authority projects. The projects are diverse and include nationaly important projects such as Lower Thames Crossing and international projects such as the inspection of dam sites throughout Saudi Arabia.
Nationally our Ground Engineering team comprises some 190 staff and provides one-stop access to services ranging from project management, feasibility studies, detailed design, contract administration and construction supervision for geotechnical works. We work for leading UK clients including Highways England, Network Rail, Homes England, Local Authorities, as well as for leading contractors and developers and for overseas clients.
AECOM has an impressive portfolio of projects, working on a range of major infrastructure projects in the North of England including upgrading of sections of the A1, as well as wider national projects including Crossrail, Thames Tideway, HS2, Mersey Gateway, Trafford Park Metrolink, Northern Hub and the Hinkley C nuclear power station.

Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
A first degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or similar.
Chartered Engineer, or close to achieving Chartered Engineer status.
