AECOM Bridge Engineer in Leeds, United Kingdom

Job Summary

Our team in Leeds is looking for an experienced Bridges Engineer to join them. Our Leeds office has an established track record of successfully delivering bridge engineering schemes for over many years, in the UK and overseas. The role will suit a self-motivated individual looking to assist the senior/principal engineers and advance their career both technically and in project management as part of a dynamic team.

Scope of the role:

  • Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.

  • Identifies discrepancies in results.

  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.

Minimum Requirements

The following will be required for this role:

  • Experience with bridge and related structural inspection assessment and design schemes.

  • Knowledge of Eurocodes, British Standards and assessment codes.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCad and Revit.

  • Working knowledge of structural analysis software - Lusas or SBD preferred.

  • Experience in the design of concrete, steel, timber and masonry structures.

  • Design and project management experience delivering to quality, time and budget.

  • Experience in road, rail and water bridge projects.

  • Experience in working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

  • High level technical skills in current inspection, assessment and design and be able to assist teams of graduate and technicians in such projects.

  • Understanding of project Health and Safety responsibilities including compliance with CDM legislation.

  • You will have a current clean driving license and be willing to travel throughout the UK to visit sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree educated or equivalent in a relevant subject such as Bridge, Civil or Structural Engineering.

  • MSc level or equivalent in Civil/Structural Engineering.

  • Graduate Member with ICE and IStructE and proven commitment to gaining Chartership.
