Job Summary

AECOM’s Ontario Environment Health & Safety team is filling a full-time position for an Environmental Compliance Specialist. The immediate assignment is to deliver the following environmental services to AECOM’s key clients in various industries (manufacturing, commercial/retail, government, construction) located in Ontario. The role can be based in our Markham or Kitchener office.

In this position, you will be:

  • Performing Environmental Compliance Audits;

  • Developing and implementing environmental management systems (i.e. ISO 14001);

  • Providing environmental regulatory compliance support services; and,

  • Developing and executing environmental training (compliance and management system focused)

Note that travel will be required to service our clients within Ontario.

The appropriately qualified candidate will have 5-9 years of working experience in the services listed above. The candidate must be a certified Environmental Compliance Auditor, or meet the appropriate qualifications to apply for certification. Demonstrated project coordination, including audit programs, is an asset. The candidate must be highly motivated and accountable, work collaboratively with other team members, and be an effective communicator. Organizational skills and an ability to work well on multi-disciplinary teams in a fast paced environment are essential qualities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Certified Environmental Auditor - EP(CEA) or equivalent;

  • Post-secondary degree, diploma or degree is environmental management/science;

  • At least 5 years experience in environmental compliance in Ontario, Canada;

  • Practical experience in manufacturing, construction and government operations;

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently;

  • Ability to work in both field and office environments;

  • Must possess a valid class G driver’s license and vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge in Canadian environmental legislation outside of Ontario;

  • Knowledge and/or education in health & safety compliance and management;

  • Experience coordinating environmental projects, including audit programs;

  • Experience working for a consulting engineering company;

  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001:2015;

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
