Job Description

AECOM Tishman is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to be based in Jamaica, NY.

This position is expected to begin in August 2024.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists the project Superintendent and Project Manager by performing a variety of tasks in support of construction activities. Duties may differ depending on the specialty area.

  • Receives continual supervision and direction in the performance of assigned responsibility.

  • Under guidance of the Superintendent, monitors work performance of subcontractors to ensure project plans and schedules are followed.

  • Assists with the planning and coordination of sub-contractor activities within the area of responsibility.

  • Monitor’s subcontractor personnel to ensure adherence with project plans and promotes quality control of all installations.

  • Reviews manpower, material, equipment requirements with others as designated by supervising superintendent.

  • Assist with the review of daily reports.

  • Enforces the AECOM safety program that creates a safe and healthy work environment on the jobsite.

  • Ensures safety standards and requirements are adhered to by crafts/trades, laborers, and others within the jobsite, as well as ensure tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.

  • Prepares reports, as required, and keeps supervisors informed on progress of overall assigned activities.

  • Interfaces with all other administrative field staff, field management staff and particularly the Lead Superintendent and assigned Project Manager in a coordinated effort.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of relevant experience within the construction industry or demonstrated equivalency of experience and /or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree majoring in construction management, building technology, civil engineering or similar major.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Prior Internship experience within the construction industry.

  • Experience working on a live construction site.

  • Able to follow directions and interact with all levels of management on a working construction project.

  • Experience engaging with multiple trades on a construction project.

  • Ability to learn new technologies and concepts.

  • OSHA 30-hour safety course certification preferred

  • MEP experience

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $29.39/hour - $51.44/hour.
