Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a mid-level environmental scientist for employment to be a task leader for a variety of military environmental projects (i.e., Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, and Remedial Actions) within the Federal sector. The successful candidate will have at a minimum a BS in Environmental Science, Engineering, or Geology with a successful work history of environmental investigation and remediation projects in Honolulu.

The candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety is imperative. Field work may be required including the oversight of subcontractors.

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Project and task management, client interaction, cost estimating, remedial systems design, overseeing implementation/construction of remedial actions, technical report writing, and mentoring.

  • Qualified candidates must be comfortable with periodic travel.

  • Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety is imperative.

  • Anticipation of job-related tasks is about a 70/30 percent split between office and fieldwork.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • BA/BS degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or Geology and 2 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of relevant experience and or education.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • US Citizen, for access to DoD project sites

  • Ability to successfully obtain a DBIDs pass to gain access to any required federal military installation site locations

  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology or related discipline.

  • Ability to travel at least 30% of the time

  • 3 years of experience within the consulting industry.

  • Experienced with environmental science principles, including site assessment and characterization, remediation, risk assessment, environmental chemistry, etc.

  • Experience military munitions response and environmental projects

  • Possess current 40-Hour HAZWOPER and Supervisor certifications and be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and preparing technical reports.

  • Experience using ArcGIS and generating maps and report figures.

  • Excellent skills in written and spoken communication (including polished client presentation skills), organization, and time management.

  • Field work will be required, including oversight of subcontractors.

  • Ability to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $49,000.00 - $75,000.00.
