AECOM Technical Head of MEICA in Glasgow, United Kingdom

Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced mechanical or electrical professional to join our Water team and make a real difference to technical standards and professionalism within the MEICA community.

Alongside delivering engineering activities on exciting and complex major infrastructure improvements you will:

  • Own WPP UKI technical performance in their discipline.

  • Assist in resource allocation to ensure quality of delivery is as important as all other considerations.

  • Be a lead interface point for marketing (thought leadership) and work winning (bid support) activity.

  • Be a TPG Leader in a group related to their discipline (with related duties)

  • Coordinate within a network of related TPGs and Lead Verifiers to encourage knowledge and skill sharing.

  • You do not need to be an expert in all aspects of your discipline - just understand and guide others who also provide leadership in the area.

Detail:

Focal point for technical area (e.g. ‘MEICA Engineering’)

  • Collect and share knowledge/best practice

  • Link up people and opportunities using related TPG Leaders (these are already in place)

  • Regular Teams meetings with UKI staff aligned with the practice

  • Travel to different offices to meet with the MEICA teams in each office on a periodic basis (minimum three per year)

  • Close working with the digital transformation initiative and Digital Lead WPP UKI

  • Publish regular thought-leadership, 6-monthly minimum

  • Be visible, prominent at industry events

Support resourcing and work-winning

  • Get the right staff onto projects

  • Enable mobility through forward planning

  • Identify recruitment needs and support the hire process

  • Identify training needs for staff and provide development plans

  • Support CAMs with client meetings and proposal development

Manage Mentoring of candidates through professional accreditations

  • Manage paring of mentees and mentors

  • Liaise with the internal IET and IMechE group to manage the professional accreditation system within AECOM

Ensure delivery quality

  • Add value through engineering reviews

  • Set standards and templates, managing upload and review of standards for their geography/discipline to the TSSR system

  • Lead technically on our most complex/high risk projects

Minimum Requirements

  • Provides engineering technical and management leadership for a discipline or area of responsibility.

  • Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative. Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with senior- level engineers within the company and with key engineering officials of other organizations and companies, and is skilled in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues.

  • At this level, individuals will have demonstrated creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual engineering problems, determining program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.

  • Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc in a relevant engineering discipline
