About Our Team: Our Cost Management team in Edinburgh are part of the wider Scottish Cost Management team delivering all aspects of cost management services, covering the whole project lifecycle from initial inception, through the design and procurement process and onto the site delivery and commissioning phase. We have secured places on a number local and national frameworks and are looking to expand our team to deliver an exciting mix of projects across a range of sectors and clients.

Job Responsibilities:

As a Senior Cost Manager working within the wider team, you will lead and deliver in all aspects of cost management and quantity surveying from project inception to completion. You will work with an Associate or Director to successfully manage and deliver a number of projects, varying in complexity and typically ranging in value from £5m - £50m+.

Duties include:

  • Production of cost estimates at concept, scheme and detailed design stage

  • Procurement advice

  • Managing the tender process, reviewing and analysing tender returns and preparing a recommendation to the client

  • Value and Risk management

  • Contract preparation

  • Interim valuations and change control

  • Cost reporting

  • Agreement of Final Accounts

Acting as a day to day main client point of contact for projects, you will also help develop collaborative relationships with clients and other professional colleagues within the industry. You will also be responsible for managing and mentoring junior staff to deliver our Cost Management service efficiently and effectively.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree Qualified – BSc or MSc – in Quantity Surveying / Cost Management

  • Professionally Qualified – ideally Chartered Quantity Surveying Status with the RICS, CIOB or other equivalent institution.

  • Understanding of SBCC/JCT and NEC standard forms of contract

  • Proven ability to advise clients and design teams on cost, value and risk, not just cost in isolation.

  • Excellent numeracy, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work under own initiative where appropriate working closely with the Management Team in the delivery of some of our highest profile project.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A clear work history and proof of professional development and learning

  • Ideally you will live locally to the office or be willing to relocate

  • Ability to manage multiple projects for a variety of public and private sector clients.

  • Prior line-management experience
