AECOM Associate Project Manager in Glasgow, United Kingdom

Job Summary

AECOM is a leading multidisciplinary construction consultancy and we are seeking a new Associate Project Manager or possibly a Project Director to manage key Higher Education & Healthcare projects in Scotland. You will manage a small team of Project Managers and work with our senior leaders to successfully deliver capital investment projects.

Job Duties

You will be responsible for managing a team of 4 Project Managers on construction consultancy projects in Glasgow and Scotland.

You will be accountable for the delivery of projects, the management of your team and the development of the business whilst acting as a key point of contact across the business and with our clients on our Healthcare and Higher Education project workload. You will do this with the support of our Project Directors and regional leads.

Ideally you will be accustomed to managing one or more very complex projects, involving clients with a national geographic footprint or multi-disciplinary services. There will be other complexities, such as projects that involve litigation, environmental protection, due diligence, etc.

You will split your time between these key activities:

Project Delivery

  • Lead the delivery of Project Management Commissions, taking responsibility for their successful delivery.

  • Ensure commissions are managed to the right quality standards and are completed efficiently and on time.

  • Management of tender documents, appraisals and negotiations.

  • Manages all phases of projects (from beginning to close out).

Leadership

  • Provide leadership within project management business and provide leadership and mentoring to the team.

  • Ensure all staff members reporting to you have current and relevant training.

  • Manage the delivery of project management team outputs, in accordance with agreed time-scales and quality standards.

  • Co-ordination and sign off on all management information produced by project management teams prior to issue.

Business Development

  • Business development opportunities with existing and new clients, including cross- selling opportunities, are identified and acted upon, to ‘win’ clients through strong business development skills and the quality of our work.

Minimum Requirements

  • Ideally Project Management/ Construction/Engineering/Quantity Surveying Degree

  • Chartered Status with the MRICS, CIOB, RIBA, ICE or other equivalent institution

  • APM affiliation preferred (as secondary accreditation)

  • Specific industry and project experience as a project manager – healthcare, higher education

  • Experienced in a Client management role – Able to manage the account in terms of projects that are ‘live’, plus seeking new opportunities.

  • Experience as a Project Manager running a small team in a comparable business.

  • Excellent written communication and organisational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prince 2 or MSP experience

  • NEC3 / NEC4 Accredited PM preferred

  • Security Clearance to SC level will be required.

  • Holder of a current CSCS card

  • Clean driving licence
