Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking to add a Geologist to our Franklin, Tennessee office. Our business focuses primarily on providing professional and technical services in engineering design, code consultation, and construction phase services for a wide variety of clients both in the private and public sectors. We execute large and complex engineering projects and provide a comprehensive range of professional planning and design, systems engineering and technical assistance, program and construction management, and operations and maintenance services.

This position is expected to begin as soon as possible.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Responsible for the study of the relationships of the natural world and the relationships between organisms and their environments. Includes monitoring & recording levels of pollutants, compiling reports, and recommending appropriate actions to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. Various types of ground water and soil studies and soil assessments are conducted to interpret and collect data.

  • Performs routine fieldwork as a trainee (such as environmental sampling; assisting with calculations; and operations, maintenance, and inspection of equipment of client site), working under close supervision.

  • Performs routine tasks in support of project staff and handles less complex duties.

  • Performs a variety of tasks in support of project staff.

  • Other activities may include assisting with calculations, setting up and operating equipment, inspecting equipment and installations for compliance with specifications, and maintaining proper project documentation.

  • Collects and enters data and applies technical principles and theories under supervision.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geosciences, Environmental Science, Biological Sciences or a related scientific discipline.

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.

  • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review and a substance abuse test.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and skill in the use of applicable equipment and instrumentation.

  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience in data collection, data review, and preparation of scientific documents.

  • Knowledge of environmental science principles and local environmental systems, site assessments, and environmental investigations, including soil and groundwater sampling techniques.

  • Working knowledge of drilling techniques including direct push and percussion methods and applicable field safety associated with outdoor investigations.

  • Ability to interact appropriately with regulatory personnel and clients for routine tasks and meet required schedules while producing quality work.

  • Must be in good physical health with the ability to work long hours outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Technical Skills: Ability to use Microsoft Office suite, AutoCAD, GIS, and spreadsheet software.

  • Proficient in environmental sampling, report preparation, and data validation at a level of detail that requires intimate familiarity with method procedures and requirements.

  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification.

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

  • Travel is required for this position.

  • This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in-office work in Franklin, Tennessee. The selected candidate must be available to work in Franklin, Tennessee on a scheduled basis.

  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $48,915.12 - $67,258.28.
