AECOM Senior Consultant (Transport Planning) in Exeter, United Kingdom

Job Summary

We are looking to recruit a Senior Consultant as part of our Transportation Team in Exeter.

You will have a key role in delivering business case and transport strategy projects for our clients on the South West Peninsula, notably Cornwall Council and Peninsula Transport as well as further afield. You will be part of a growing team supporting this work and providing a resource for our increasing portfolio of clients across the South West.

We are seeking an experienced individual with a proven track record in transport planning and with experience of delivering projects to meet HM Treasury Green Book and Business Case (the Five Case Model) guidance. You will need to have an aptitude for project and people management and be excited by the challenge of being part of a developing team.

Our Exeter Transportation Team is part of a thriving multi-disciplinary office with 90 staff and a key contributor to our large and growing Transportation business (around 60 staff) across the South West, located across offices in Bristol, Exeter, Plymouth and Cornwall.

As a Senior Consultant you will:

  • Be responsible for managing tasks and directing junior staff in their work.

  • Produce business cases to meet the requirements of local authorities, the DfT or other reviewing organisations;

  • Support funding submissions for local authority clients to help them in securing financing for the delivery of transport infrastructure;

  • Be able to work with other teams, quickly developing a good understanding of multiple channels of information and with the ability to draft drafting compelling reports which both meet the required guidance and engage the reader.

There will also be opportunities to support business development and bidding activities within the South West.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree Level Qualification or higher in a related field;

  • Broad experience of Transport Planning;

  • Proven track record of business cases with knowledge of HM Treasury Green Book and DfT WebTAG and Business Case guidance;

  • Strong analytical abilities.

  • Strong communication skills;

  • Open and collaborative ethos;

  • Flexible and approachable behaviour.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree;

  • Member of a professional organisation;

  • Experience of transport modelling and appraisal;

  • Familiarity with Highways England PCF product requirements;

  • Project management experience and understanding of the concepts of cost control, quality control and project schedules.
