AECOM is seeking a Senior Estimator to join the team at our Edmonton, Alberta location. This is a full time position.
Responsible for activities related to estimating all elements of project cost including labor (manual and non-manual), materials and permanent equipment, supplies, consumables and expenses, construction equipment rental and operating costs, contingency, escalation, program risk, etc.
Develops proficiency in the use of the Company estimating systems and processes.
Recognizes, understands and applies estimating terminology, measures, concepts and principles for compiling all types of estimates.
Responsible for cross-discipline application or may concentrate in one or more estimating disciplines including but not limited to Civil / Structural / Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation.
Utilizes the appropriate company and industry historical data for costing.
Recognizes how various processes/project actions and assumptions may impact the estimate and quantifies the impact.
Assists in analyzing and using estimates to predict key project issues.
Prepares and/or coordinates preparation of full project estimates. Provides complete conceptual and final estimating input.
Understands construction means, methods, and discplines sequences.
Attends site visitations and recognizes how various site conditions may impact the estimate and documents the impact.
Attends and participates in strategy reviews, pre-bid, post-bid, and kick-off meetings and actions applicable outcomes.
Assists and or prepares the Estimate Plan.
Conducts work requiring independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard estimating techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Provides guidance to less experienced estimating personnel.
Develops wage rate build-ups.
Reads and interprets drawings, specifications, Requests-for-Proposals and contracts.
Develops and oversees detailed material take-offs for procurement of bulk materials.
Develops and oversees detailed labour take-offs for application of labour norms.
Applies the various elements of the AECOM cost structure (overheads, G&A, insurance, etc.)
Develops cash flow schedules and estimates.
Prepares scope and bid package breakdowns for subcontract and vendor quotes.
Prepares subcontract and vendor bid analysis for scope, cost, and price.
Assists and or prepares the Estimate Basis.

Qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, a position must provide evidence of a satisfactory Alcohol & Drug test in accordance with the Company's Alcohol & Drug Policy. In order to be valid, the test must have been conducted at the direction of AECOM - O&G Business Unit.
Diploma/Certificate in engineering or construction +6 years of demonstrated equivalency of experience.
Proficient MS office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Great communication skills - both written and verbally.
Strong organization skills, self-motivated and detailed-oriented skills.
Strong team player, must be able to work well with others.
Able to train, mentor and coach other estimators / team members.
This position may be required to drive a vehicle on behalf of AECOM and therefore will require the candidate to submit a satisfactory driver's abstract for review.
WHIMIS certification/ticket is required.
Previous estimating software experience is an asset.
Previous drafting experience is an asset.
Previous heavy industrial estimating experince is an asset.
