Job Description
Our Electrical business line within the AECOM Buildings + Places sector, is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technologist to join our team. This position is based out of our Edmonton, AB office with opportunities for hybrid work.
AECOM, Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant, growing and fully integrated team spanning architecture, structural, mechanical engineering disciplines, inclusive of landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics, asset management and Program Management for the design and construction administration of various infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to: Transit and Municipal, Commercial, and Institutional projects, Justice, Education and Government.
Major Responsibilities:
Assist in the design and development of electrical systems and components.
Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and reports using REVIT and/or AutoCAD software.
Conduct tests and inspections of electrical systems and components to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues in a timely manner.
Collaborate with engineers and other technologists to implement design modifications and improvements.
Maintain accurate documentation of all electrical designs, modifications, and testing results.
Provide technical support and guidance to clients and project teams.
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
Monitors and documents conformance with quality, performance, safety, and code requirements.
Activities may include assisting with engineering calculations, cable sizing, underground infrastructure design, lighting simulations and calculations, specifications and general project documentation.
General understanding of AECOM procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines.
Required ability to manage, organize and participate in multiple work assignments including production support of contract documents as required.
Assist in the team achieving engineering deliverables (e.g., drawings, specifications, analysis, and reports) comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures, and sound engineering practices.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess at a very minimum:
College Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field + no less than 2 (two) years of experience in an electrical technologist role.
Proficient with REVIT modelling and AutoCAD software.
Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.

Preferred Requirements:
Prefer at least 5 or more years experience in an electrical technologist role.
Certification or eligibility for certification with ASET (Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta).
Strong understanding of Canadian electrical codes and standards (e.g., CEC, NEC).
Knowledge of the CAN/ULC Standards related to Fire Alarm design, installation, and verification.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed.

Relocation is not available for this position.
Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $63,000.00 - $80,000.00.
