AECOM are currently recruiting for a
Hydraulic Modeller /
Civil Engineer to join our busy Infrastructure Team in Edinburgh to work on both Clean and Wastewater projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for hydraulic modelling input on our portfolio of both water and wastewater utility projects. You will form part of our strong multi-disciplinary engineering team delivering varied and interesting projects for a variety of public and private clients both in the UK and overseas. The ideal candidate will have experience of similar project work in the UK water sector and be able to work proactively and collaboratively to solve engineering problems.
As the successful candidate you will have a degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, or significant and demonstrable experience of effectively undertaking similar roles and will already hold or be working towards professional qualification status.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:
Provide technical lead on the delivery on outputs from small to modelling medium projects
Effectively delegate tasks to the team as project workload and deadlines demand
Undertake a technical mentoring role for more junior members of staff
Health & Safety Risk Assessments
Coordinating Field Teams
Model Build and Calibration
Optioneering of design solutions
Producing reports and technical documents.
Progress reporting and client Liaison
Project management, as well as business development client liaison

The successful applicant will have sufficient experience to work with the minimum supervision on civil engineering schemes in particular water industry and water and drainage infrastructure projects.
In addition to suitable project and sector experience, candidates should also be able to demonstrate good written and oral communication skills, and have the ability to interface effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Minimum experience requirements are:
Experience using Infoworks WS, CS and ICM
Solid experience at consultant project management/ task leader level with proven track record in the delivery of projects.
Understand and work within financial and programme constraints of a project
Ability to design technical specifications and scopes of works for projects.
Experience of technically reviewing projects, providing design and optioneering input, and in preparation of proposals.
Experience running a specific team of project engineers and technicians with the ability to lead single and multi-disciplined projects as project manager/ task leader.
Experience assisting senior management in the preparation of technical and financial proposals.
Experience liaising with government departments, local authorities, water and utility companies, Environment Agency and other public bodies.
A proven track record developing client relationships and securing repeat business work.
Computer software literate including MSWord, MSExcel
Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent qualification) or have proven track record/experience of delivering modelling projects
Be self-motivated individual with ability to work independently and take ownership of workload
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be a team player
Be proactive with professional development and demonstrate a desire to continuously improve and develop as an engineer
Abel to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a proactive way
Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams
Excellent report writing skills, experience of making presentations and attending meetings with clients essential
