Job Description
AECOM is seeking a talented and highly motivated Senior Sustainability Consultant to join the High-Performance Buildings and Communities team. This multi-disciplined team provides High Performance design leadership and consulting on sustainable buildings and communities with projects ranging from the design of net zero buildings to the sustainable planning of major global eco-cities. This role can be based in Orange, CA; San Francisco, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Seattle, WA; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; or Chicago, IL
The candidate will have a technical background such as Engineering, Building Sciences, Sustainability, Architecture or similar, and a minimum of 6 years professional experience in the green building/design sector. They will have a good understanding of the issues surrounding infrastructure sustainability such as how a project enhances community well-being, health, and livability; how well project planning engages stakeholders, shows collaboration, and implements sustainability; the efficient use of materials, water, and energy; how a project affects ecosystems, biodiversity, and natural habitat and a projects consideration of adaptability to climate change and its resilience against environmental risks.
The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:
Provide leadership on Envision consulting taking large projects from conception to completion. Be the point of contact for Envision projects within the team.
Creating sustainability and ESG plans for multiple client types including city, county, and private entities.
Facilitating successful certification of complex projects from start to finish for other rating system types.
Undertaking project reviews and mentoring junior staff.
Creating staff plans, monitoring and adjusting them on a regular basis.
Providing leadership in sustainability consulting for multiple client types to help client meet sustainability goals. Conduct early-stage Charrettes to assist clients with establishing project sustainability and healthy building goals and objectives and define a path to compliance with third-party rating system requirements when applicable.
Guiding our in-house disciplines to identify opportunities to meet client sustainability goals and requirements and comply with third-party rating system requirements when applicable.
Developing and review specifications related to project sustainability and healthy building goals.
Prepare and present results and professional recommendations, in report or presentation format to clients and internal teams.
Developing scope for sustainability proposals.
Qualifications
Must Have Skills/Experience (Including any required Certifications):
- Bachelor's degree required in Engineering, Building Sciences, Sustainability Architecture, or a related field +6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience/education.
Preferred Qualifications
Envision SP credential
Has worked on at least 2-3 Envision projects including experience with the certification process.
Has created, monitored and updated staffing plans on 3-5 projects as a task lead
Preferred 8+ years of experience
Masters' degree preferred in sustainability-related field
Additional certifications/licenses e.g., LEED AP, WELL AP are a plus
Experience managing projects or leading tasks with multiple staff
Understanding of high performance and zero carbon building principles and technologies
Ability to balance various project and company responsibilities and deadlines, while maintaining professionalism and quality
Adaptable and flexible, showing a willingness and ability to take on new projects or areas with or without supervision, as required
Team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to proficiently communicate both internally and externally to build collaborative relationships
Experience working with federal government
Additional Information
- Hybrid work schedule available
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $110,000.00 - $140,000.00.
