Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Field Management Superintendent for immediate employment as part of the Mining group in Denver Colorado. This assignment is intended to be on-site for a major mining operation near Prescott, Arizona. The candidate will be performing construction monitoring, and quality control and assurance of mine tailings storage facilities and heavy civil infrastructure designs.

The individual in this position must have proven ability to contribute to the management of complex, technical engineering construction projects, lead construction project teams; encourage a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with stakeholders; contribute to decisions regarding technical approaches, cost control, schedule control, change management, risk management, and performance; identify problems, analyze information and develop sound recommendations; and have strong safety focus.

Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills with a strong background in engineering construction management for large heavy civil infrastructure projects.

Job Summary / Responsibilities:

  • Providing review of Contractor submittals for completeness and compliance with the specification requirements while contributing to the Submittal and RFI review process.

  • Contribute to communications between the Contractor, Owner, Project Design Engineer, Resident Engineer, and the Project Manager.

  • Contribute to responses to Contractor correspondence providing interpretation of contract drawings and specifications to resolve problems or conflicts arising on site.

  • Participate in the review and evaluation of contractor claims and change order proposals.

  • Identify potential or actual problems in the Contractor’s construction schedule, performance/quality of work and coordinate actions as necessary to mitigate, correct or resolve them.

  • Track job progress and document all aspects of the daily performance of work.

  • Coordinate on a daily basis all Contractor requested outages, road closures, work permits or other activities impacting the Operation with the Owner.

  • Track progress, quality of work, materials and equipment received and/or installed being incorporated into the work.

  • Contribute to final inspections, preparation of punch-list and final determination as to the completeness and acceptability of the Work.

  • Performs construction monitoring, oversight, quality control and assurance (QA/QC) activities on an active construction and mine sites

  • Prepares daily construction activity reports and assists in the preparation of construction summary and as-built reports

  • Plans, implements, performs and oversees construction, field and laboratory testing programs

  • Work will require extended field/travel time and night shift work approximately 90% of time

  • Contributes to the development of alternate technical solutions and design options in support of project team, e.g. white paper research, code review and wide range of difficult problems.

  • Develops and/or implements the results of reports, opinions, or recommendations to address design challenges/opportunities.

  • Clearly communicates and collaborates with design team, client and contractor.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS degree plus 6 years of relevant experience and or demonstrated equivalency experience and or education.

  • A valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6 years of related experience preferred with 5+ years of heavy civil construction project experience.

  • Professional Engineer

  • Field/Construction experience of tailings or dams

  • Familiarity reading, and interpreting design reports, drawings and specifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrate proactive problem-solving skills

  • Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment

  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility and flexibility

  • Resourceful, highly organized, and detail oriented

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines

  • Effective time-management and interpersonal Skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Additional Information

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

  • Relocation is not provided for this role.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $90,000.00 - $140,000.00.
