Job Description
AECOM is proud to play a key role in the expansion of the Port of Rotterdam, one of the world’s largest and most crucial transport hubs. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Resident Engineer to join our team as we provide project and construction management services for this significant upgrade. Appointed by APM Terminals, this ambitious project aims to enhance the port’s capacity by the equivalent of 2 million standard shipping containers, reinforcing its position as a leading logistics hub and industrial complex.
As a Resident Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the construction and implementation of cutting-edge infrastructure at one of Europe’s largest and busiest ports. This role offers the unique opportunity to collaborate with global industry leaders, ensuring that every aspect of the project meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. Key tasks include, but are not limited to:
Developing and implementing project management strategies, plans, and procedures to ensure successful project execution and quality outcomes;
Managing project budgets, schedules, risks, and resources, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting to internal and external stakeholders;
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, partners, and contractors, and identifying new business opportunities;
Mentoring and coaching project staff and fostering a collaborative and high-performing project team culture;
Managing the supervision of construction works under FIDIC contracts;
Ensuring compliance with the contract specifications, drawings, quality standards, health and safety regulations, and environmental policies;
Coordinating and communicating with the client, contractor, design team, and other stakeholders on site;
Reviewing and approving contractor's work plans, method statements, progress reports, and payment certificates;
Issuing instructions, variations, and notices to the contractor as required by the contract.
Resolving technical issues and disputes on site;
Preparing regular site reports and maintaining site records;
Assisting with the commissioning, testing, and handover of the completed works.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field;
Proficiency in English; Dutch language skills are a plus.
Project Specific Client Requirements
Minimum of 15 years professional experience;
Recognised Professional or Chartered status in Engineering e.g. MICE, PE, etc.;
Minimum experience on five (5) infrastructure development projects in a port or marine terminal environment with a construction value in excess of €200m;
Minimum experience on five (5) infrastructure development projects working as part of the Site Engineering Supervision Construction role;
Minimum experience of holding the role of the Engineer on five infrastructure projects and directly accountable for construction works in excess of €100m.
