Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Transportation Planner II to join the transportation team in the Dallas, Texas office. This position is expected to begin in May 2025.
The position provides the opportunity to work on multi-modal transit planning, such as light rail, commuter rail, high speed rail, bus rapid transit, and microtransit, among other transit-supportive studies. The selected candidate will support efforts such as feasibility studies, alternative analyses, public involvement and outreach activities, transit operations planning, zero-emission studies, strategic plans, rural transit projects, transit consolidation studies, grant writing, and transit policy and research projects.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Supports planning studies and reports for new and updated plans and programs.
Collects a variety of statistical data and prepares reports and maps on topics, such as census information, land use, roadway network, crash records, and asset inventories.
Works with the planning team to conduct equitable public outreach, preparing materials and presentations.
Analyzes data and prepares detailed maps for use on thematic maps and in reports.
Conducts concept-level evaluation of transit/transportation improvement options.
Documents and presents findings on transit/transportation planning projects.
Researches current transportation-related topics at local, State, and Federal levels.
Assists with other duties assigned by senior staff and/or Project Managers.
This position will involve planning and project development activities for transportation projects under the supervision of more senior staff.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirement:
- BA/BS + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in planning, GIS, Data Analytics, Civil Engineering, or Architecture
Pursuing or completed a master’s degree in urban planning, Transportation Planning, or City and Regional Planning with an undergraduate degree in Planning, Political Science, GIS, Data Analytics, Urban Studies, Engineering, or Architecture.
Demonstrated interest in multi-modal transportation planning and analysis, including analyzing and recommending solutions for urban transportation issues.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of planning, research, and data collection.
Understanding of local/regional transportation planning processes and policies in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Analytical skills to interpret research data for reports and apply statistical techniques in practical situations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to proficiently communicate both internally and externally to build collaborative relationships.
Presentation skills to synthesize data and research into compelling reports and graphics.
Capable of multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment, including an ability to prioritize and meet task deadlines.
Strong command of the written and spoken English language.
Fast learner who is open to learning new concepts, specializations, and software programs.
Knowledge of using GIS for spatial analysis.
Knowledge in developing and presenting illustrative reports and graphics utilizing Adobe CS or other graphics software packages.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $60,000.00 - $95,000.00.
