We are trusted to bring together the best people, ideas, technical expertise, and digital solutions to our work in transportation, buildings, water, the environment, and new energy. We’re one global team – 47,000 strong – driven by a common purpose to deliver a better world.
As we look ahead for 2022, we continue to grow and to support that growth, we are now recruiting a Senior Bridge Inspector to join our Bridges and Structures team in Croydon with opportunity to work from home when not on site.
What will you do?
AECOM have been appointed across five rail routes for the Civil Assessments Framework Agreement (CAFA) contract and our team in Croydon supports the Anglia, Kent, Sussex, and Wessex routes. With our involvement in this framework, it offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Bridge Inspector to take a collaborative role in the assessment of some of the biggest civil engineering structure projects in the UK.
Typical work may include:
Planning, with particular regard to health and safety requirements, and leading inspections for assessment for a range of structures, including bridges and operational property structures.
Supervision of graduate engineers and technicians.
Some report writing, production of technical reports and documents
You will be self-driven and proactive, and possess a sound technical understanding of civil structures, particularly bridges and therefore STE4/STE5 competent or equivalent. You will have a strong background in leading inspections for assessment and be experienced in working as part of a team, coaching more junior team members.
Your experience will span across a range of structure types such as masonry, metallic (including wrought iron and cast iron), concrete (including prestressed) and/or timber structures, and you’ll be familiar with much of the modern inspection technology used today.
Ideally, you will have achieved Certified completion of a bridge inspection/examination training course or be suitably qualified by experience.
PTS and PIC/COSS qualifications would be desirable in this role, although not essential
