Job Description

AECOM has positions available for a Construction Safety Specialists in Omaha, NE, Council Bluffs, IA, and Cedar Rapids, IA. In this role the person will be working at client sites full-time and act as an owner's representative at large data center campus construction sites. As the owner's representative and along with the construction general contractor, this person will review and collaborate on their safety programs to promote a culture of safety across the sites.

The responsibilities of this role include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Complete surveys and measurements related to construction health and safety compliance and performance.

  • Conduct research on topics related to construction health and safety compliance and report on resulting findings.

  • Conduct health and safety assessments for new construction and modifications to existing structures, including:

  • completion of daily observation forms

  • completion of weekly progress reports & updates

  • completion of monthly metrics

  • Facilitate general contractor implementation of the owner's construction safety contract requirements.

  • Participate in general contractor and subcontractor safety meetings.

  • Assist with updates to existing construction health and safety plans.

  • Prepare and provide construction health and safety training as requested.

  • Under minimal direction supervises personnel engaged in the ES&H functions within the company or on the same project.

  • Independently develops, implements and maintains safety and health programs, systems and procedures.

  • Monitors and prevents hazards and diseases in the work area.

  • Supervises personnel engaged in monitoring and preventing hazards and diseases that could be present throughout the work sites.

  • Provides technical leadership and functional guidance to ensure regulatory standards are being enforced.

  • Ensures that quality control procedures are executed to monitor all aspects of regulations.

  • Serves in a liaison capacity with the resident contract agency representative and other various agencies engaged in promoting environmental, safety, and health activities.

  • Drafts all necessary reports to Federal, State, and local agencies, as well as client stakeholders.

  • Keeps informed on all existing and proposed changes in occupational health and safety regulations. Assists in the development and conducts basic ES&H training to employees.

  • Communicates programs to enhance employee awareness of prevention and compliance.

  • May administer an ES&H program on a large, specialized, complex project or multiple projects.

  • Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions.

  • Investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace.

  • Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment to minimize hazards.

  • May act as a lead role for a team of ES&H specialists and/or support personnel.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in safety or related field +10 years of construction safety or related experience.

  • Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.

  • Due to the nature of work, US citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Data center construction experience

  • Experience overseeing a variety of construction trades.

  • NFPA 70E Certification

  • OSHA 30 Construction Safety Training

  • OSHA Authorized Trainer

  • Certified Safety Professional or similar certifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a variety of stakeholders

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $110,000.00 - $160,000.00.
