Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated, passionate and experienced Leader to join our growing team in the southeast. The ideal candidate will have strong roots in South Carolina (SC), established network of Water clients and partners and a passion for Leadership. Under the direction of Southeast Regional Business Line Leader (RBLL), The SC Water Group Leader will guide our exceptional local team towards achieving AECOM’s goals and promote a positive and inclusive team culture. The individual will cultivate an atmosphere of collaboration and communication, while equipping staff with the necessary tools for individual and business success. Working together with teams and technical leaders, the individual will strategize and implement initiatives to enhance team performance, productivity and quality of work.

About the South Carolina Water Team

The AECOM team in South Carolina is 45+ diverse and multidiscipline professionals that are driven by a passion to deliver quality work to our clients. The Team members have long-lasting and strong relationships with our clients and amongst each others. The Team manages a diverse and strong portfolio of Water, Wastewater and Water Resources projects among the offices is Greenville, Florence, Columbia and Charleston. The portfolio includes local municipal projects, private clients and projects with other AECOM teams outside South Carolina. This diversity has enabled a strong business built on collaboration and delivering excellence.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the South Carolina Water business in a manner that exemplifies AECOM’s core values: Safeguard, Innovate, Collaborate, Deliver, Thrive, and Selflessness

  • Develop and execute the business growth strategy for the municipal water market which, aligns to regional and national objectives and initiatives

  • Identify, manage, and participate in key industry events that align with the growth strategy

  • Create and maintain a robust pipeline of project opportunities as documented and managed in AECOM’s client relationship management database

  • Assist in leading key pursuits, proposal reviews and interview preparation

  • Lead and develop a strong and diverse team of capture managers, client account managers, and technical practitioners.

  • Recruit, retain, and develop top talent, and support their career planning via AECOM’s goal setting and performance management system

  • Set and actively manage the team’s direct project utilization in a manner that aligns with the growth strategy and regional objectives

  • Foster and promote a culture of excellence in people management, project management, cost controls, and overall profit and loss center management.

  • Serve as Principal in Charge for existing clients across the project portfolio

  • Oversee contracts, scope and fee development to maintain quality deliverable and profitability and manage risk

  • Support operations and project delivery teams in exceeding key project performance goals

  • Apply best practices to project delivery by leveraging technology and standard methodologies of the Technical Practice Network (TPN)

  • Coordinate with the office of Risk Management to align on AECOM’s risk tolerances, procedures, and approval matrix

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental or related technical discipline

  • Professional Engineering License

  • 10 years of experience in the water market and programs in the South Carolina area, with at least two years in a leadership or management role

  • Demonstrated experience managing project managers, engineers, designers, and client accounts.

  • Proven experience in the successful management of business financials for engineering and consulting contracts.

  • Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License.

  • AECOM Project Management Certification (applies only to internal AECOM candidates

  • Due to the nature of the work, US citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in relevant technical discipline

  • 15 years of experience in water market and programs in the South Carolina area, with at least five years in a leadership or management role

  • Professional Engineering License in SC

  • Residence and experience concentration in SC

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $225,000.00 - $265,000.00.
