Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Utility Coordinator for employment in Columbia, SC.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the SC Transportation Group on all utility relocation and permitting for SCDOT and other County/City projects across the State.

  • Assist designers with conceptual utility cost estimates

  • Review preliminary and final utility plans

  • Coordinate with involved utility owners/operators to achieve timely project notifications and submittals

  • Track utility plan submittals and status of markups from the utility companies

  • Identify foreseeable project utility impacts and provide recommendations for resolution and minimization of project/utility costs and delays

  • Secure reimbursable cost estimates, agreements, certification letters, Utility Adjustment Schedules, and plans from all utility owner/operators

  • Maintain project correspondence and tracking database

  • Certify that all foreseeable utility conflicts are resolved and that all utility agreements and negotiations have been completed prior to bidding for construction

  • Provide advice and assistance in using utility and Overhead/Subsurface Utility Engineering investigation data

  • Review Utility Adjustment Schedules during construction

  • Review utility reimbursement invoices

  • Assist in resolving utility conflicts in the field

  • Coordinate with utility companies during construction if they begin to hold up the progress of the project

Qualifications

​​​​​​ Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or demonstrated equivalent such as a combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience

  • U.S. Citizenship is required, due to the nature of the work

  • Valid Driver’s License, and must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or demonstrated equivalent such as a combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience

  • Candidate should have a strong technical background with the design and construction of various types of transportation projects including road and intersection improvements, sidewalks and multi-use paths

  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

  • Local government work experience is a plus

  • State Work experience is a plus

  • Contract administration experience is a plus

  • Proven experience delivering multiple projects with various funding sources on time and within budget

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $64,000.00 - $115,000.00.
