Job Summary

AECOM NY Metro Buildings + Places is expanding its educational studio in our Clifton, New Jersey office. The individual in this position is intended to share responsibility with the Managing Principal for the success of these efforts, including:

  • Delivery of K12 and Higher Education projects per AECOM project delivery system and quality procedures, on time and on budget

  • Coordination of in-house training and implementation in support of multi-disciplinary implementation of educational projects

  • Interfacing with internal staff in order to facilitate understanding of market specific requirements for integration of those standards into project work plans

  • Communication with all disciplines, including architecture, mechanical, plumbing, sprinkler, electrical, civil, construction management, structural, design and high performance studios

  • Understanding and helping to facilitate office understanding and implementation of BIM workflow, process and content standards for this market

  • Training and management of the development of project work plans for multiple projects of various sizes

  • Responsible for overseeing and coordinating all design development aspects of mid­size to large projects and accrue technical staff.

  • Overseeing and coordinating the technical, aesthetic, and financial requirements for multiple small to large architectural task/projects and staff

  • Disseminating technical information and industry standards to staff

  • Coordinating work of the various disciplines and subconsultants on the project

  • Initiating and completing the correction of any conditions which may adversely affect the completion of the project on schedule and within budget

  • Overseeing project architects, monitor their individual performance and provide guidance and direction, as needed

  • Conducting regular meetings with appropriate personnel to disseminate technical informration, coordinate interdiscipline, technical peer and quality assurance reviews of project deliverables

  • Supporting and enhancing the Company’s marketing effort by participating in preparation and presentation of proposals in the educational marketplace

  • Providing opportunities for staff for technical/professional growth

  • Providing leadership to successfully plan, develop, implement and complete tasks, projects and programs, while maintaining high professional standards

  • Ensuring that quality and excellence is being implemented in line with the quality management system

  • Maintaining architectural budgets for projects

  • Deriving architectural fees and budgets

  • Signing and sealing drawings

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors of Architecture

  • 15+ years of related experience, minimum 5 years in overseeing and coordinating all technical aspects of small to mid-size projects.

  • 15+ experience and background in programming, design and implementation of best practices in the education market sector

  • Broad general knowledge of the technical, aesthetic, and financial aspects of educational market sector.

  • Proven ability to support staff members working in educational (K12 and Higher Ed) projects with market specific expertise

  • Strong presentation and relationship skills to develop and retain new/existing

  • Ability to deliver innovative design approaches to meet educational requirements

  • Ability to mentor team members and promote technical excellence

  • Team building and collaboration skills

  • New Jersey specific experience in K12 and Higher Educational projects

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Broad knowledge of architecture

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Strong leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registration as a Professional Architect is preferred

  • Active member of professional and/or technical society preferred

  • Autocad, Revit and other computer programs preferred

  • Highly developed sense of marketing
